Kaery Dudenhofer is a full-time firearms and self-protection trainer who resides in the Pacific Northwest. She has trained under some of the most respected instructors in the self-defense industry to guide responsible citizens through the complex legal, moral, and social issues concerning the use of force in self-protection. In addition to teaching firearm courses Kaery also does expert witness work in use of force cases. Kaery and her husband, Eric, are the proud (and often exhausted!) parents of 7 children. Away from the range and classroom, Kaery spends free time with her family — Glamping, riding quads, making music, reading, and enjoying water sports.

Christopher Bean comes to us with an extensive background in human capital management and leadership development in a corporate environment. In addition to this, his passion has always been empowering people to understand that their intrinsic value is worth defending. This is represented with over 20 years of firearm related professional coaching experience. In addition to his ASP responsibilities, Chris is a successful defensive space business owner affiliated with some of the best-known defensive companies in the United States. Located in the greater Atlanta Ga. area where he lives with his wife Arianne and 19-year-old son Christopher. When not burning the candle at both ends, Christopher enjoys personal growth activities, pursuit of perfection in pistol craft as well as spending time with his European Doberman Pinscher, Caesar.

John founded Active Self Protection in 2011 to teach people in all walks of life to develop the attitude, skills, and plan to defend themselves and their families from harm.
John is a nationally-recognized subject matter expert in private citizen defensive encounters and law enforcement use of force, a master firearms instructor, martial artist, disclosed expert witness, and teacher of teachers whose passion is to help students fall in love with learning and growing in every area of life.

Stephannie has been involved at Active Self Protection in many different capacities since 2014, currently serving as the CEO and Executive Officer (XO) and John’s general “right-hand man.” Because she is a follower of Jesus, she is passionate in her belief that innocent life has vast intrinsic value and is worthy of being fiercely defended. She enjoys having the opportunity to teach some of the skills necessary to that task around the country. She is particularly interested in defending vulnerable populations and issues important to women.
Stephannie’s greatest joy is her family. She has been married to her husband and best friend, Neil, for 26 years. Together they have 5 grown and nearly grown children and two adorable grandchildren. She does enjoy guns and shooting, but these little ones are a few of her favorite things.

Training Director
Neil Weidner is the Director of Training and Chief Marketing Officer at Active Self Protection. He handles all of the business and sponsor relationships for Active Self Protection, as well as all speaking and training events. His creative and innovative ideas, as well as the partnerships he has cultivated over the years, have resulted in several mutually beneficial partnerships across the industry.
When he isn’t on the range, he enjoys spending time with his family – especially his grandchildren – and pheasant and deer hunting with his kids in South Dakota. He and his wife, Stephannie, enjoy camping and exploring in the Jeep.
His previous business and management experience, as well as his analytical style and passion, bring a needed and fresh perspective to the gun industry and we are so grateful to have him.
